Arch K. and his wife have 20 thoroughbred horses and, during the off-season, they are all on their farm in South Carolina. Arch installed a long-bay compost system and along the tops of the dividing walls he constructed cat walks so that the manure carts could be delivered to either side of the “advancing face” of the compost pile. They use wood pellet bedding, resulting in a high proportion of manure to bedding, and he says the finished compost is “BEAUTIFUL”. He uses everything he produces on his own pastures and while he is a very friendly and generous person, he says, “Nobody will be getting my compost anytime soon”.
