Institutional Composting Systems
Institutional compost systems are similar to municipal compost systems in terms of the organic feedstocks that they process. These materials include landscape debris, food scrap waste, animal manure, waste paper products, and biosolids.
Institutional compost systems are generally small and medium scale operations that serve closed communities. In this instance, the wastes are retained onsite to minimize the expense of the transportation and disposal, and the compost is used on the properties in landscape, turf and garden applications.
Examples of institutions that can take full advantage of on-campus composting include colleges and universities, corporate campuses, hospital complexes, prisons, military bases, retreats and summer camps, etc. O2Compost has designed institutional compost systems for each of these groups - the principles and procedures are applicable worldwide.
