Vinegar Hill Farm
Gales Ferry, CT
Built to compost the manure from four horses, this O2Compost system has been in operation since 2006. Each bin gets a load of compost three times a year and the finished compost is spread onto the fields. Owner Tom J. says "New England soil is notoriously poor and ours rated at the bottom of the poor scale until we started putting the compost on it." Approximately 98% of his house electricity comes from solar panels, so the composter is essentially run by solar power. "We are very happy with our composting system."
