Green Labyrinth
Deming, WA
Leslie and Jen have created a retreat space that currently includes 7 llama, 4 oxen and 3 horses. They installed a top-down system for easy wheelbarrow dumping from top and compost removal from below with a tractor. A grant from their local Conservation District helped fund the cost of construction. First priority for the finished compost is the veggie garden for starting new beds and topdressing herbs, veggies and berry bushes. Second priority is the fruit trees and ornamental plantings.
"If we have the wonderful problem of too much compost, Whatcom Conservation District offers a manure and compost listing site for sharing resources with neighbors."
