Simmons Road Farm
Edmonds, OK
Beverly and Kent K. purchased their cornerstone compost system in 2008 and constructed a four-bin composter using masonry block with a sliding lid. They compost the manure from their three horses, filling each bin in about a month’s time. While they use some of the compost on their pastures and give a bit away to neighbors, the majority is used back in the barn as stall bedding. Kent says that the compost bedding has worked great, gives the barn a mild earthy fragrance, and has eliminated the need for buying bedding and discarding the waste. Even their veterinarian loves what they are doing.
