Teresa R. is working toward a sustainable setup, off the grid, with minimal environmental impact. Her goal is to grow and sell organic foods while keeping as much waste as possible out of the landfills. Her O2Compost Micro-Bin is composting kitchen waste and manure from two horses, along with layers of chipped biomass materials from garden and landscaping areas. The finished compost is used on the garden (tomatoes, carrots, etc.) as well as microfarming native desert crops (tepary beans, desert huckleberry, mequite, amaranth, etc.). Teresa's bins were constructed from scrap block, repurposed lumber, and repurposed tin.
