Solana Center
Encinitas, CA
Solana Center for Environmental Innovation is an environmental non-profit that focuses on organic waste reduction. The O2Compost Micro-Bin offers Solana Center a mid-scale, easy method of composting that will handle the 1,500 pounds of food waste they receive every month by the participants of their Food Cycle program. The feedstock includes bokashied food waste, coffee grounds, wood chips, finished compost, and paper towels. Part of the program allows the paricipants to pick up the finished compost and use it in their home gardens.
"The bins reach the ideal temperatures within a few days and work fabulously for our intended purpose." The process is working so smoothly and efficiently, Solana Center is adding an octagon-shaped bin to work alongside the two hexagonal Micro-Bins already in use.
